Nestlé puts $100m in Colombian expansion

Nestlé announced it will be investing $100 million in its Colombian operations over the next three years as part of a wider agreement reached with the Colombian government. The investment will be used to expand production capacity, advance cultural transformation and innovation, and support the sustainability of its business.

The new production line for the Milo brand at the Bugalagrande facility received an investment of $10 million, which will increase the company’s capacity by 40% and its exports by 15%. The investment funds will be distributed among companies in which Nestlé SA holds a majority stake, allowing the company to expand its resources and presence in several cities in Colombia.

During the inauguration of the new production line, President Gustavo Petro expressed confidence in the investment, stating it demonstrated a “confidence in Colombia and its future”. CEO of Nestlé Latin America, Laurent Freixe, further reinforced the company’s commitment to the country, saying “we believe in Colombia and its development potential”.

In addition to supporting its business, Nestlé aims to contribute to building a “more prosperous society” by aligning with the national government’s priorities of generating opportunities for young people, promoting human rights, building peaceful communities, and protecting the environment. The company plans to launch concrete initiatives to reduce its carbon footprint and take care of the planet.

In conclusion, Nestlé’s investment in Colombia reflects its long-term commitment to the country and its belief in its growth potential. The investment will enable the company to expand its operations and support its ongoing efforts towards a sustainable and socially responsible business.
